There's Going To Be A Baby by John Burningham & Helen Oxenbury is a wonderful read for moms and dads who are preparing for their second born. Here's an excerpt:
                                              Mommy, can't you
                                              tell the baby to go away?
                                              We don't really need
                                              the baby, do we?
The first born child in the story is weary about a new baby. He is wondering about the new baby. He has many questions about the new arrival and is excited to discover what is in store!
                                               I wonder if the
                                               baby will work here
                                               at the zoo one day,
                                               looking after the
                                               animals.
I recommend this book. It is full of great images. The illustrations are well done. The whole story relays the message well. I give this book 4 out 5 books!

Review of a book from Candlewick Press

A Bedtime for Bear by Bonnie Becker, illustrated by Kady MacDonald Denton is another winner for Candlewick Press. I read this book with pleasure. Bear is a warm, loving character who has a sleepover with his friend mouse. Bear wants the house to be quiet but mouse keeps on disturbing him through the night. Finally, Bear gets upset and says, "Will this torment never cease!" wailed Bear. Mouse responds
like this, "Sorry, Bear. Good night, Bear," whispered Mouse, tiptoeing back into bed as quiet as a ...well, you know." This I believe is the climax of the story. Then there is a turn of events which I found adorable.
I guess you'll have to read this book to discover the end! I recommend this book highly. I give this book five out of five books! Entertaining!

More Children's Book Reviews!

     Candlewick Press sent me some books to review. Their distributor is random house so the books actually are delivered by them. Anyway, I wanted to start with the board books.  
     Potty by Leslie Patricelliis an adorable book that features a young child who needs to go potty. The child asks "Should I go in my diaper?" and then later, "Should I go in my potty?" Everyone is happy including the child's parents at the end when the child accomplishes the task at hand. The illustrations are colorful and fun!
Another book that features the same young child character is called Tubby also by the same author/illustrator. The child says, "Tubby time!".  The story is about a playful time in the tub. The child goes on to say, "I count my duckies." and "I wash all around my belly button." I recommend these two board books. They would make a great gift for children ages 1-3. I give them 5 out of 5 books.

CANSCAIP-Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators and Performers

CANSCAIP is a society of Children's Authors, Illustrators and Performers. I have been a member since 1994. This was the beginning of my career as an author. I was published in many magazines before I joined as a member. This organization is wonderful, full of people who help you and guide you through the many questions one has about becoming an author. I am on the listserve where I meet many authors all over Canada. We discuss issues, events, books and more! It's a great place to be! I recommend Canscaip highly to anyone who is thinking about becoming a children's author, join as a friend to begin with and then as you get published, you can become a member. Scholastic Classroom Essentials Catalogue

Dear Readers,

I am excited to reveal that my book is in the Scholastic 2010-2011
Classroom Essentials catalogue. It is under the Early Childhood
section on page 46. The book is called "Finger Rhymes -Content Connected Rhymes for Science, Math and Social Studies."
